Iain and Abi have just returned from a lovely little short break, taking in some of the wonderful sites across Dorset and the Jurrasic coast in Mango. As residents in Thailand, its great to see our little corner of England can measure up to some of the more exotic locations that Iain has been lucky enough to experience. Have a read of Iains trip on his blog
About RodOwner of www.retrocampervan.com - Classic VW Campervan Hire
We’ve just come back from a lovely little trip to the Isle of Wight and would definitely recommend a few places to see if you’ve never visited the island before. The main advantage to getting there has got to be how close and easy it is to get to from our base in Guildford. Even if you’re on a weekend hire it’s dead easy to collect your camper
It's been a long time coming but finally after many years of yearning, we have purchased a beautiful 1965 Splitscreen VW. We've decided to christen her 'Pistachio' continuing along the ice-cream theme we have with Mango, Peaches & Malibu. She is in fabulous condition and has such a lovely vintage feel about her which extends into the handcrafted oak interior that was made by a cabinet maker.
We’d like you to get the most out of our campervans and to look back fondly remembering a great experience. To do this it’s important to recognise that taking to the wheel of a 40 year old vehicle is nothing like driving a modern car - there is a knack to driving them. The good news is that anyone can master this and it all starts with your mental approach and a little planning.
This is the type of family planning needed when the previous type was ignored! Handy for working out when to book time off and holidays in your campervan
A little known fact for many of our customers that are looking to book a campsite to stay at, is our company membership of the Camping and Caravan Club which extends to anyone hiring a campervan from us. It's called the Privilege Scheme and gives you access to over 100 award-winning Camping and Caravanning Club
One thing that can take a little getting to used, when turning on the ignition of a classic VW, is the driving experience that lies ahead. For most people 10 mins is all it takes to relax into a laid back vibe, where the journey there is all part of the fun, not just the destination. Chugging along happily at 55mph feels great as you notice your surroundings more and revel in the simplicity of an upright driving position with a huge steering wheel
Gary Lineker and his dad Barry Lineker are seen on screen together for the first time as Walkers announce their move to using home grown British ingredients in their delicious best selling range of crisps. Who better to join Gary than someone who knows all about great tasting British produce -- his dad Barry (a former owner of a fruit & veg stall in Leicester!).
This morning I was asked a question, by Nigel Williams of BBC Radio Surrey, which had me clumsily fumbling for the right answer. After lots of ‘umms’ and ‘errs’ I managed to voice a response but thought I’d try and articulate things a little better on this blog.
After waving off so many happy campers, watching them drive off in our campers ready for an adventure, I decided enough was enough and that I should also get some of the fun too
